Spreading the Word about 4-H

Fond du Lac County 4-H has reached hundreds of people by participating in a series of community events such as the Boys & Girls Club’s multicultural night and Lights on Afterschool, North Fond du Lac’s Christmas and Mother’s Day celebrations for ELL students and their families, Action Center at the County Fair and most recently National Night Out.

At all of these events we have 4-H families helping us spread the word about 4-H. 4-Hers interact with youth through fun, hands-on activities and parents share with other parents their 4-H experience. 4-H members and families have engaged in conversation with the public to break the stereotype of “4-H is just for farm kids” by sharing information about the life skills developed because of their participation in 4-H. Volunteers develop a sense of belonging as well as communication, teamwork, self-esteem and social skills.

Clubs will celebrate National 4-H Week, October 1-7. For the 75th consecutive year, millions of youth, parents, volunteers and alumni across the country will be celebrating National 4-H Week during the first full week of October. Fond du Lac County 4-H will leverage National 4-H Week this year by showcasing the incredible experiences that 4-H offers young people, and will highlight the remarkable 4-H youth in our community who work each day to make a positive impact on those around them.
