Money as You Grow Book Club Seeks Readers

Have you read a great book with a child lately?  Money As you Grow is a family financial education program designed to be a book club.  This book club uses children’s books to help families learn key money concepts through reading, playing, and quiet one-on-one talks through the use of parent guides designed to assist families looking to teach their children about money choices.   Money as You Grow book club can be found at the Fond du Lac Public Library Children’s section, as well as on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website, which is an official website of the United States Government.

Michelle Tidemann, Fond du Lac County Family Living Educator, is a member of the State UW Extension Dollars during Development (3D) state financial team that designed the Money as You Grow Book Club which is now being used across the nation.  Additionally, Tidemann has authored one of the parent guides – Sally Jean the Bicycle Queen.  Money as You Grow has been very popular at the Fond du Lac Public Library as Children’s Librarian Sarah Newton confirms the 16 books with accompanying parent guides are very popular as they are rechecked out as soon as they are returned! Tidemann and Newton will be furthering the use of the Money as You Grow book club with families through story hours and training with childcare providers and elementary teachers.
