Family Learning Day

February 24, 2024 Learn a new skill or gain fresh ideas. It will be a fun, informative day. Parents are encouraged to spend the day with their child and help them find their sessions. There are two sessions (1 in session 3 and 1 in session 4) being offered to adult volunteers new to 4-H. Cost will  be $15 for 4-H youth, $18 for community youth,  and $0 for adult volunteers.

  8:15 am 8:45 amCheck in: All participants MUST check in. Many people participate in this event, so plan to arrive early to allow for registration time prior to the 9 am                         session, so that you may get to your session before it starts.

11:45 am – 12:30 pmA box lunch will be available at the campus for $9.75 (small) or $13.00(standard). Box lunch will include a meat or veggie sub, chips, cookie, and a bottled water. You must sign up during the registration process if you would like a lunch. You may bring a  bag lunch with you if you wish.

· Registration begins December 27, 2023 and ends January 26, 2024. Participants may attend five (5) sessions until they are filled to capacity. Register for this event at https://2024familylearningday.4honline.com/ or log into your 4Honline account and find it under events.

· Please register early! Sessions may fill up quickly. Starting Jan. 10, sessions will be opened to neighboring counties.

· Cost will be $15 for 4-H youth, $18 for community youth, and $0 for adult volunteers with an additional charge for lunch.  If there are 3 or more children attending from the same immediate family, the charge for the third and fourth child is reduced by $3.00 each. Discretionary funds are available for those with financial need. Call the Extension Office at 920-929-3171 to inquire

· Payment for this event and lunch must be  mailed to the Extension Office by February 9, 2024 to hold your sessions. PLEASE print your invoice from “4-H Online” and mail a CHECK payable to Fond du Lac County and send to: Extension Fond du Lac County, Attn: 4-H, 400 University Drive, RM AE-227, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.

· Parents are encouraged to attend. If you attend with a child to help them,  please indicate that you will be working with your child to allow for adequate seating. When working with your child, remember, this is their learning day, so please refrain from doing the project for them.

· For your own information, record the sessions that you registered for. Save this flier and refer to it for    your  schedule.

· Arrive early on Family Learning Day, so you are on time for you first session.

Fashion Revue

When: Monday, June 17, 2024
All 4-H members in the Clothing, Crocheting, Knitting, Cloverbud, Consumer Savvy, and Exploring projects are invited to participate in the upcoming statewide Fashion Revue. Registration will be open in 4HOnline May 1-May 31

Where: Extension Winnebago County, James P. Coughlin Center, 625 E. County Road Y (Sunnyview Rd.)

A little information on the Foods Revue for members: The youth will make a food item from the category listed below using the Cocoa theme. Youth will set one place setting, to include a recipe card for the item made, placemat or tablecloth, and centerpiece.

Categories: Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entrée, Dessert, Challenge Dish Ingredients: TBD

Rules:
1. DO NOT bring Food Revue entries to the fair.
2. Any member can make one food entry, one photography entry, and one centerpiece entry in the Foods Revue.
3. Open to ALL youth in our community and 4-H members enrolled in any project.
4. Foods Revue displays shall consist of the food(s), the recipe on a 3”x 5” or 4” x 6” card, a place setting, a placemat or tablecloth, and a centerpiece.
5. Each participant is expected to answer questions pertaining to the project work.

6. Participants may use 4-H project books, favorite family recipes, or recipes from other sources.
7. Garnishes are acceptable and encouraged for all entries.
8. Cloverbuds will receive ribbons; all others will receive premiums and ribbons.  Premiums will be on your fair checks that are distributed after the fair. Additional prizes may be also presented as determined by the Foods Revue Committee. Remember to enter this item when you do your online fair entry.
9. All entries must follow the 2024 theme and contain cheese in the recipe. 
10. All participants are asked to bring at least 25 sample-size portions of their recipe to serve during the Taste of Fond du Lac 4-H portion of the evening. Covers will be available if participants want to take samples home. 

Cardboard Camp

Cardboard Camp – Zoology
When: August 20-22 from 9 am-12:30 pm
Where: Extension Fond du Lac County, UWO Fond du Lac Campus, 400 University Dr., Fond du Lac
Cost: $20 (am only) *$36 for Cardboard & LEGO Camp (full day registration)
Who: Youth grades 3rd-8th

*Camp is limited to 20 youth.
Open to youth in grades 3rd-8th, this 3-day in-person cardboard camp will provide youth an opportunity to be creative. Does your child love animals? This camp youth will focus on creating animals from various materials such as cardboard boxes, paper towel tubes, paper plates, and more. By the end of the week, youth will have created a Zoo diorama they can take home! In addition to learning about the building process, youth will learn about the animals they create! Register through 4HOnline April 15 – July 26.

Register through 4HOnline April 15 – June 7. Register by May 31 to receive a camp T-Shirt. The camp is limited to 30 participants. What to bring to Camp: a bagged lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, jacket, and a water bottle in a backpack for the day.

Camp Descriptions:
Buzz, Flutter, Crawl – Buzz, Flutter, Crawl- Youth will learn about pollinators from bees to butterflies and everything in between! As they take a nature hike through the Gottried Arboretum, they will be able to observe the insects and maybe even catch a couple! Older youth counselors will lead fun camp games as well as crafts and other activities throughout the day. Please dress your child in clothes that allow them to get dirty and explore the observation ponds as well! Come learn the tricks pollinators use to survive!

STEM – Cloverbuds will get the chance to tinker, build, and experiment. This camp will provide a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math activities. Some activities may include electricity- circuit building, engineering challenges such as egg drop, parachutes, or vehicles.  Science experiments maybe messy or ooey gooey!

Teddy Bear Adventures – Cloverbuds will go on a series of adventures throughout the day with their favorite stuffed animal! Youth will have a bagged lunch picnic with their teddy bear friends!

Art Day Camp

UWO Fond du Lac Campus
When: Monday, August 5 – Wednesday, August 7, 9 am-3 pm
Who: Youth grades 3rd – 8th
Cost: $13/day or $33 for all 3. Register through 4-H Online under events starting April 15. Registration closes July 12. Must have a minimum of 5 participants. Camp is limited to 20 participants. We will start a waitlist if we fill up.

Camp Descriptions:
Monday, August 5 Art-Rageous 2-D Camp– Calling all youth artists! From clay to oil pastels and everything in between, youth will explore art by channeling their creativity while learning about different artists, techniques, and medias. Youth will explore visual arts such as drawing, painting, printing making, photography, and more. Bring your paint clothes and creative minds and we will supply the rest!

Tuesday, August 6 Super Sculptures 3-D Camp – Youth will explore various 3-D forms of art such as macrame, sculpting, hand-built clay pottery, weaving, soap carving, and recycled art. Youth will work with various materials such as clay, wood, paper, yarn, soap and more.

Wednesday, August 7 Creative Cultural Arts Camp – Youth will learn about different cultural arts which might include origami, braiding, dream catcher making, weaving, piñata making, and more.

Lego Camp

When: August 20-22 from 1:00 – 4:30 pm
Where: Extension Fond du Lac County, UWO Fond du Lac Campus, 400 University Dr., Fond du Lac
Cost: $20 (am only) *$36 for Cardboard & LEGO Camp (full day registration)
Who: Youth grades 3rd-8th

LEGO Camp is a camp for youth to learn different LEGO building skills. The LEGO Club and the project is growing fast. Join us during this camp and get a taste of what LEGO Club is like! Youth will build different creations with LEGO bricks at the office. No need to bring any from home! Youth will also learn about different building and engineering techniques, as well as do some LEGO crafts they can take home! Youth will work as a team to complete a challenge, so let’s get building! Grades 3-8 can participate, and grades 9-12 can lead the camp. $20 (pm only) *$36 for Cardboard & LEGO Camp (full-day registration)

Around the World Camp
Where: UWO Fond du Lac Campus
When: June 10-12, 9 am- 3 pm
Who: Youth grades 3rd-8th  
Cost: $30 Register through 4-H Online under events starting April 15. Must have a minimum of 5 participants. Camp is limited to 20 participants. We will start a waitlist if we fill up. 

Description: Grab your passports and pack your bags to travel with us around the world. Play sports or geography games, listen to music, create cultural crafts, and enjoy traditional foods. Youth will have the opportunity to visit one country in the morning and one country in the afternoon to collect 6 passport stamps in total. Youth may also learn some vocabulary from the different countries.

Foodie Camp

Where: UWO Fond du Lac Campus
When: June 17-19, 9 am- 3 pm
Who: Youth grades 3rd-8th  
Cost: $36 Register through 4-H Online under events starting April 15. Must have a minimum of 5 participants. Camp is limited to 20 participants. We will start a waitlist if we fill up. 

Description: Put on your aprons and chef hats! Campers will measure, chop, and stir their way into the cooking world by creating recipes and snacks! Youth will compile a recipe book at the end of camp. Each day youth will have the chance to practice different culinary skills while cooking in the kitchen.

Stem Camp

Who: Youth grades 3rd-8th  
Cost: $30 Register through 4-H Online under events starting April 15. Must have a minimum of 5 participants. Camp is limited to 20 participants. We will start a waitlist if we fill up.
