EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

  • Get Checking - an educational program designed to help consumers without a primary banking relationship gain access to basic financial services regardless of their banking history. What can individuals expect to learn from the Get Checking Program? You will learn how to choose an account that is right for you; how to manage your checking account; and the keys to successful money management and credit. The program also educates consumers who are already banking on how to better manage their checking accounts. Call the UW-Extension Office at (920) 929-3174 for more information or to register.
  • JOBS LLC (formerly Employment Success Factor) -- A variety of workshops presented by the Job and Career Center and University of Wisconsin-Extension, Fond du Lac County offering individuals practical information on dealing with the daily strains of working and raising a family. The job and life skills taught in these workshops will serve as a life-long resource for participants.
  • Rent Smart 2008 class schedule. Free workshops to help you find and keep a decent place to live.  Designated for individuals who are likely to have trouble getting rental housing. Participants must attend all sessions and complete assessments in order to receive a certificate.  Landlords are willing to consider the Rent Smart certificate a "positive reference" and, in some cases, provide a rent rebate for completing the workshop.  Call 929-3174 to register.  Rent Smart is co-sponsored in Fond du Lac County by ADVOCAP and UW-Extension.
  • Where Does the Money Go? - a series of educational workshops intended to help individuals manage the money they have and begin to be in control of their finances. Individauls will learn money management skills through educational sessions supplemented with money management materials. The program is hands-on and interactive for those who participate. Call the UW-Extension Office at (920) 929-3174 to register or for more information.
