Travel Experiences
Explore the world through 4-H and expand your horizons! Every 4-H member interested in applying for the following trips needs to fill out an application and be interviewed. The interviews take place in September, so fill out your application in the summer.
Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference
Over 800 youth attend this educational event in Madison each summer. Participants take part in educational seminars and assemblies and meet people from across Wisconsin. You are encouraged to take what you learn and share it with others in your club, community, and county.
- Madison, WI in June
- Grades 7-10
- 10 to 15 delegates may attend from Fond du Lac County
- Cost is $210 (FdL Co. 4-H Adult Leader Ass’n. will sponsor 1/2 the cost)
American Spirit Experience
40 youth from neighboring counties participate in this nine day experience where they are immersed into America’s history in the eastern states.
- East Coast of United States
- Grades 8-10
- 4-6 delegates may attend from Fond du Lac County
- Cost is $1,050 (FdL Co. 4-H Adult Leader Ass’n. will sponsor 1/2 the cost)
Citizenship Washington Focus
This week long event focuses on educating youth on citizenship while visiting many sites of interest in our nation’s capitol.
- Washington D.C. in June or July
- Grades 10-12
- Up to 6 delegates are selected from Fond du Lac County
- Cost is $700 (FdL Co. 4-H Adult Leader Ass’n. will sponsor 1/2 the cost)
National 4-H Congress
Delegates participate in self development seminars, tours, and a service project, while exchanging ideas with youth from across the nation.
- Atlanta, Georgia in November
- Ages 14-18 as of January 1 of the year of the trip
- Up to 6 delegates are selected from Fond du Lac County
- Cost is $700 (FdL Co. 4-H Adult Leader Ass’n. will sponsor 1/2 the cost)
National 4-H Conference
Six youth are selected from Wisconsin to attend this working conference held at the National 4-H Center. Each participant selects an issue and works with other youth from across the country to develop plans to help direct future 4-H programming.
- Washington, D.C. in April
- Ages 14-18 as of January 1 of the year of the trip
- One delegate selected from the county must go through final selection at state level
- Cost is $1000 (WI 4-H Foundation sponsors 2/3 of cost, FdL Co. 4-H Adult Leader Ass’n. will sponsor 1/2 of the remaining cost)
International 4-H Travel Opportunities
Wisconsin 4-H challenges youth to become global citizens by offering international homestays and hosting experiences. You could travel to Japan, Australia, Norway, Mexico, or Costa Rica! You could also have an intercultural experience by hosting a foreign exchange student.
